On September 20, 2007, in the headquarters of the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency, the presentation entitled “The Support to Warsaw Airport” took place. The Agency was the organizer of this event. The representatives of Civil Aviation Office, Warsaw Frederick Chopin Airport, airlines (LOT, Centralwings, Wizzair and Norvegian Airshuttle) and handling companies participated the meeting. The Polish Air Navigation Services Agency was represented by The Vice-President, Witold Kamocki, representing PANSA’s Air Navigation Department and Jacek Wawrzeńczyk, the Director of Air Traffic Services Office.
The aim of the meeting was to relay information about the possibility of delays’ reduction in the air traffic, generated by Warsaw Frederick Chopin Airport, with using the most up-to-date and tested methods, procedures and instruments. The Eurocontrol’s experts, Gregory De Clercq and Dave Hogg briefly presented the basis of the functioning of CDM (Collaborative Decision Making ) i DMEAN (Dynamic Management of European Airspace Network) programs. Ton Van Der Heldt, the representative of IATA, gave the opinion about the expectations of effective functioning of the airports in Europe, including Warsaw Airport.
Another aim of the meeting was the initiation of effective cooperation and information exchange between the local partners in Warsaw Airport. The distinct rise of air traffic operations at Warsaw Airport in 2006-2007 and the prognoses of a steady rise up to 2012 enforces the task of minimalisation of generated delays at Frederic Chopin Airport.
The Warsaw Frederic Chopin Airport takes part in Eurocentrol’s consultation and support “Gap Analysis” programme, which is going to be carried into effect, without any charges, next year. This is the reason of opening preparations to initiate CDM project at Warsaw Airport. As the result of a discussion, it was agreed that CAO will be the patron of the task. Gregory De Clercq accepted the idea, and proclaimed that he possesses apposite authorization to affect proposed realization formula. It was also planned that Eurocontrol will prepare a “Draft Programme”, and undertake further organizational and fulfillment decisions during the next meeting of Steering Group in October.
Witold Kamocki, The Vice-President of PANSA proclaimed the readiness of ANSP to work within CDM programme. The similar statement was declared by Jacek Galinowski the Director of Operational Centre, on behalf of “LOT Polish Airlines”
The meeting should be considered a success. It is worth noticing, that the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency despite being a very young organization, already gained the appreciation of the experts of Eurocontrol and IATA.
