On 25th and 31st October 2018 in Polish Air Navigation Services premises two POLFRA – Polish Free Route Airspace - Information Days successfully took place. Their main objective was to introduce changes within Polish airspace and their impact on air traffic flow within EPWW FIR starting from February 2019 when the project will be fully implemented.
The first of the meetings was dedicated for Air Navigation Services Providers bordering Polish FIR, that is: ANS CR (Czech Republic), DFS (Germany), FSUE State ATM Corporation (Russia / Kaliningrad), LFV NUAC (Sweden), LPS (Slovakia), Oro Navigacija (Lithuania) and UkSATSE (Ukraine). There were also EUROCONTROL Network Manager experts present who took active part in the meeting.
The 31st October meeting was intended for Aircraft Operators and CFSPs. There were many airlines present, including LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Finnair, KLM and other as well as Jeppesen, Lufthansa Systems and Sabre representatives. During the event, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and EUROCONTROL Network Manager delegates took active part.
Introducing POLFRA will allow the airspace users to improve flight planning across EPWW FIR, causing route and flight time shortening and lowering the fuel consumption and CO2 emission.
